The Microsoft Studio capstone project represents a collaborative effort between Microsoft Unified Communications and a team of students from Carnegie Mellon University's Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII). This project sought to learn how the Millennial Generation uses current tools and media for communication and collaboration and to determine ways to improve these processes.

The result of 8 months of research and design is Studio. Studio is a semi-public communications platform, that supports novel ways to manage and share information by designating explicit space for critical items, leveraging a directed and broadcasted communications model, and publicizing associations that users make between conversations.
